Shap Playgroup is a registered charity providing a welcoming space for babies and children up to 5 years old. Their sessions are flexible—children can go for part or all of the session, depending on your little one’s routine. Each session offers engaging play with toys, optional creative activities led by Glynis, the playgroup leader, and a snack break with a drink and biscuit. They finish with a fun group activity such as action songs, a music session, outdoor play (weather permitting), or sandpit play.

A Partnership with Shap School

We are delighted that they partner with Shap School, offering a bridge for children transitioning to primary education. Our collaboration includes special visits from Mrs. Kelsall, the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) teacher, who leads singing and nursery rhyme sessions at Playgroup. This helps familiarise children with Shap School staff, creating a seamless introduction to the school community when the time comes.

Shap playgroup is located alongside the library in The Old Courthouse on Main Street. To find them, follow the path on the right side of the building to the entrance at the back.

  Tea & Coffee available for £1
