Pupil Outcomes 2023-24

At Shap CE Primary School, our pupils demonstrate strong progress and achievement across key stages, reflecting the effectiveness of our personalised learning approach and supportive school environment.

Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

  • 78.6% of children achieved a Good Level of Development, laying a solid foundation for future learning.

Year 1 Phonics Screening

  • 80% of children passed their Phonics Check, showing excellent progress in early literacy.

Year 2 (Optional) SATs Results

  • Reading: 71% reached the Expected Standard (EXS) and 14% achieved Greater Depth (GD), exceeding the projected national GD of 11%.
  • Writing: 64% reached the Expected Standard, surpassing the projected national average of 54%.
  • Maths: 71% reached the Expected Standard, with 14% achieving Greater Depth, outperforming the projected national GD of 12%.

Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) - Year 4

  • Out of 16 children, 14 completed the check, with 14% scoring a perfect 25 out of 25.
  • 57% scored 21 or above, with many showing significant improvement, especially those who attended additional tutoring sessions.

Year 6 SATs Results

  • Grammar, Punctuation, and Spelling (GPS): 75% reached the Expected Standard, with 16.6% achieving Greater Depth, aligning closely with national expectations.
  • Reading: 75% reached the Expected Standard, with 8% achieving Greater Depth, showing steady progress toward the national GD level of 30%.
  • Writing (Teacher Assessed): 75% reached the Expected Standard, with 17% at Greater Depth, surpassing the national projected GD of 15%.
  • Maths: 40% reached the Expected Standard, with 8% achieving Greater Depth.
  • Science (Teacher Assessed): 92% of Year 6 students reached the Expected Standard, surpassing the national projected level of 82%.

 

 

Context for Performance Data

Our results reflect both strong outcomes and individual growth, though small cohort sizes can cause annual variation. Ofsted noted that “The very small numbers of pupils in each year group mean that the proportion represented by one pupil can vary considerably from year to year. Statistics regarding pupils’ outcomes can therefore show wide variation” (Ofsted 2019).
