We had a wonderful Educational Visit to Heysham Nuclear Power Station today. We demonstrated all of our previous learning linked to electricity and states of matter, and wowed the staff there! While there, we were taught how electricity is generated at Heysham, how to save electricity, how to create circuits and we explored being human circuits using their 'buzz bars'!  We also learned all about the PPE necessary to keep us safe once we were in the power station and helped each other to dress correctly! Sadly we weren't able to take photos inside the Power Station, however it was fascinating for us all! We got to visit the control room, ride in their lifts to view the boilers and turbines and we even saw their fire station, canteen, health centre and security systems! We asked some excellent questions and were motivated by our learning. We certainly had some children who would love to work within the power station when they are older.
