Tortoise Visit

We have had some special visitors in Blencathra class today. Mrs Capstick's girls, Mia and Aoife brought their pet horsefield tortoises Esio and Iggy to be introduced to us. We learned about how to care for them correctly, why they have shells, why they walk quiet slowly and which group of animals they belong to and why. Ted was comparing the similarities and difference between his dwarf tortoise and the horsefield. We held them, stroked them, completed observational drawings and some of us made a fact file about them. We all now want pet tortoises!
