June 24 - Over the last few weeks, the class have carefully watched (sometimes through a microscope) the ladybird larvae grow, form a pupae, then hatch into tiny yellow ladybirds then grow into bigger red ladybirds. It was eventually time to let them into the wild! We are sure they are going to love eating the aphids in our wild garden!
May 24 - The children enjoyed finding the places they have visited, on a map.
Class e book 'Places we have visited around the World'
Feb / March 24 - The children have embraced the farming theme by thinking about all the food farms produce for us. They have cooked pancakes, grown cress to add to egg sandwiches, made vegetable soup and tasted local foods including Cumberland sausages and Lakes icecream. They have re-enacted real life experiences in the class role play restaurant.
Jan 24 - The children thought of ways to reduce, reuse, recycle and repair to help our local environment and help save the planet.
After sorting different types of junk into different materials they posted them into the correct bins at the recycling centre. Clothes were posted into the ‘Recycle with Michael’ bin at the front of school. Fruit waste was poured into the compost bin and we talked about how we can use the rain water caught in the water butt.
Jan -24 Reception had an interesting walk around the village. They looked for places that might have people in the community that help us, 'Real Life Superheroes!'
We made up a rhyme of the places we went to.
